Odense (Denmark), Oct.21: After three hard-fought games against her Thai opponent, India’s double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu advanced to the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open Super 1000 competition on Thursday. In her final 16 match, Sindhu defeated Busanan Ongbamrungphan by 21-16, 12-21, 21-15 in 67 minutes following a tough battle. Sindhu is competing in her first competition since earning bronze in the Tokyo Olympics in August.

Sindhu, one of India’s finest Olympians, had taken a vacation to rest before competing in this competition. Saina Nehwal, the London Olympic bronze medalist, and Kidambi Srikanth, the former men’s world number one, were among the major names from India.

Lakshya Sen will face world No. 2 Viktor Axelsen in the round of 16, while Sameer Verma will face Anders Antonsen of the home country later in the day.
