Rahul Bajaj to be cremated with full state honours today in Pune

Pune, Feb 13: The final rites of industrialist and Padma Bhushan awardee Rahul Bajaj, who died on Saturday at the age of 83, will be performed with full state honours at Vaikuntha Crematorium in Pune at 4 p.m. on Sunday evening.

People can pay their final respects to Bajaj’s mortal remains at his residential premises (Bajaj Plant) at Akurdi, Pimpri-Chinchwad city, Pune district. The mortal remains of industrialist Rahul Bajaj were carried to his apartment earlier today, and preparations for his funeral rituals are ongoing.

Bajaj breathed his last at Ruby Hall Hospital in Pune at 2:30 pm on Saturday.

Dr Parvez Grant, Chairman, Ruby Hall Clinic said that Rahul Bajaj passed away at Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune at 2:30 pm on Saturday. He was under treatment for cardiac and lung-related problems for the last month.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced that Rahul Bajaj’s funeral will be held on Sunday with full state honours.

Bajaj formerly served in the Rajya Sabha. He was also the chairman of the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council. Bajaj was one of corporate India’s longest-serving chairmen.

He was the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on two occasions. From 1979 to 1980, and again from 1999 to 2000, Bajaj was the president of the CII.
