New Delhi, Aug 5: During a protest against the Central government over rising prices and unemployment, police detained a number of Congress members on Friday, including Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, and K C Venugopal. From parliament, the Congress MPs were marching towards the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Congress leader and former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat was also detained by police during the party’s protest.

“All Congress MPs were marching towards Rashtrapati Bhawan to raise the issue of inflation & price rise but they are not allowing us to go ahead from here. Our job is to raise the issues of the people…Some MPs detained,also beaten,” said Congress MP Rahul Gandhi at Vijay Chowk.
Notably, Congress lawmakers started a protest march from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan in response to the nation’s growing inflation and unemployment rates. All of the Congress members entered the Parliament building wearing black clothes to show their displeasure.
