New Delhi, June 16: Rahul Gandhi wrote to the Enforcement Directorate today, requesting that his interrogation in a money-laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper be postponed until Monday. On Friday, the Congress MP was called after being interrogated for 28 hours over three days.
According to sources, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are in the hospital with their mother Sonia Gandhi.
Sonia Gandhi has been at the Ganga Ram hospital in Delhi since Sunday. According to reports, she was brought to the hospital due to Covid-related issues.
Sonia Gandhi has been called in for questioning as well. The Gandhis’ role in the National Herald case is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. It involves the Young Indian’s acquisition of AJL (Associated Journals Limited), the firm that publishes the National Herald, a platform for Congress.
According to the Income Tax Department, the Young Indian took over 800 crores in AJL assets, which should be regarded an asset of Young Indian’s shareholders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, for which they should pay tax.
