Kolar, April 16: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a stinging criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by bringing up the “corruption” of Adani issue. He made a comment on the Modi surname in Kolar in 2019, for which he was found guilty of criminal defamation and expelled from the Parliament.

Gandhi focused on the Adani issue during his first trip to Karnataka following the March 29 announcement of the Assembly elections in an effort to criticise the Prime Minister.

“Adani is a symbol of corruption,” he said addressing the ‘Jai Bharat’ rally here.

Gandhi expressed his confidence in the Congress’s ability to win the upcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka, which are scheduled for May 10. Gandhi stated that the Congress’ key electoral pledges would be approved at the first Cabinet meeting once the party forms the government, clearing the path for their implementation.

“I am very glad the Congress party is fighting Karnataka Assembly elections unitedly,” he said.

Senior members of the Congress, including the president of the AICC Mallikarjun Kharge, the General Secretary in charge of Karnataka, Randeep Singh Surjewala, the head of the KPCC, DK Shivakumar, and the leader of the legislature party and former chief minister Siddaramaiah, spoke at the public event.
