New Delhi, July 8: Rahul Gandhi paid a visit to Lalu Prasad Yadav, the head of the Rashtriaya Janata Dal, at the AIIMS in Delhi on Friday.

According to a source quoted by news agency PTI, Lalu’s condition is steadily getting better and he will probably be moved from the Critical Care Unit to a room within a few days.

After meeting the RJD leader, videos showed the Congress leader leaving the hospital. KC Venugopal, the general secretary of the AICC, accompanied him.

In Bihar, the Congress, has a coalition agreement with Lalu Yadav’s group. In the United Progressive Alliance or UPA government led by Manmohan Singh in 2004, Lalu Yadav held the position of Railway Minister.

Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Yadav’s son, stated earlier this week that his father’s condition has “improved,” but the decision to transport him to Delhi was made because the medical professionals at AIIMS are familiar with his medical background.

The seasoned leader of Bihar, who is currently free on bail in a case involving a fodder fraud, has a number of illnesses, including diabetes and renal and heart issues. He fell on Sunday of last week and broke his shoulder; the injured region was then wrapped.

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar and a former ally turned opponent, visited Lalu Yadav when he was in Patna and assured him that the government would cover his medical bills because ‘that is his right.’
