Patna: Addressing a packed gathering at the Shri Krishna Memorial Hall during the Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan in Patna on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the BJP-RSS leadership for allegedly opposing the caste census. He declared that the Congress would ensure the caste-based enumeration goes ahead despite resistance.
“If you stand by the Constitution, you embrace the ideology of truth,” Gandhi said. He questioned whether the ideology of Savarkar was reflected in the Constitution, responding to his own query with a firm “No,” claiming Savarkar couldn’t face the truth.
Gandhi alleged that Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), and women are treated as second-class citizens in India. “I’m not saying this casually—I’ve studied this and speak with data in mind. Data can change the course of politics,” he asserted.
Referring to a previous interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament, Gandhi said, “I told him that the wall of the so-called 50% reservation limit is built on lies. He won’t break it—but we will.”
He criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for opposing caste-based census, reiterating, “We support it and will get it done.”
Corporate Capture & Economic Inequality
Calling the caste census a form of “social X-ray,” Gandhi called it a revolutionary step. He accused the BJP and RSS of attempting to block it because it would expose social inequalities. “A mere 10 to 15 individuals have captured the country’s corporate sector. Ambani and Adani control vast parts of it. GST is paid by the people, but loan waivers go to them.”
Gandhi alleged that politics under NDA rule is shaped by handpicked billionaires. “Politics today is run by Ambani and Adani. But we will defeat that system,” he said.
Congress to Uplift the Marginalized
Addressing party workers, he emphasized their role in leading Bihar’s poor and marginalized. “Your job is to empower Dalits and the underprivileged. Congress aims to change Bihar’s face by bringing you into active politics.”
He affirmed that the Congress party’s mission is to unite and uplift the poor, EBCs, OBCs, Dalits, and all common citizens with dignity and opportunity.
Earlier in the day, Gandhi also joined the “Palayana Roko, Naukari Do” (Stop Migration, Give Jobs) march in Begusarai led by Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar.
