Daltonganj, June 4: The Rail traffic on the Up line between Hehegara and Chhipadohar railway stations under the East Central Railway of the Dhanbad division was restored around 8 pm (20 hrs as per railway time) last night after a little over 3 hours of disruption following ‘hot axle’ problem with a coal loaded long haul python goods train en route to Harduaganj on Saturday.
The hot axle problem arose with the 25th wagon of this coal-laden train from the rear end to the engine said railway sources.
The long-haul python goods train halted around 5.13 pm (17.13 as per railway time) Saturday evening near pole number 243/01. It had a coal load from Shivpur for Harduaganj in UP.
The intercity express train from Ranchi to Sasaram was controlled at the Tori railway station said railway sources in Daltonganj.
The hot axle is a very common but equally dangerous phenomenon with the railway wagon or coach in which the wheel becomes exceptionally hot leading to the jamming of the ball bearing. Inadequate lubrication to the wheel ball bearing leads to the hot axle issue with the running train.
