Jamshedpur, March 18: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by rain with strong surface wind gusting up to 40-50 Kmph at isolated places over Jharkhand today.
A similar forecast of thunderstorm/ lightning accompanied by strong surface wind gusting up to 30-40 Kmph was issued for the next three days till March 21. Met officials in Ranchi said weather condition is expected to improve from March 22.
“We are expecting clear and dry weather conditions in most parts of the state from March 22,” said a duty officer at Ranchi Met Centre.
Weathermen said an east-west trough runs from cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Kutch to Bangladesh across Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal at 1.5 Km above the mean sea level.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain with thunderstorm occurred at few places, while squall (Ranchi -83 Kmph) was also reported at one or two places over the state during the past 24-hours.
The highest rainfall recorded was 20.4 mm at Ranchi (Airport). The highest maximum temperature 34.9°C was recorded at Jamshedpur while the lowest minimum temperature 17°C was recorded at Ranchi (Airport).
