Ranchi: Jharkhand continues to experience intensifying cold conditions, but a temporary relief is in sight. According to the Meteorological Center in Ranchi, the weather will remain dry on December 18 and 19, providing a short respite from the chilly winds. However, the state is likely to witness a change in weather conditions starting December 20, with rain predicted in several districts.
Rain on December 20, followed by a resurgence of cold
Meteorologist Abhishek Anand from the Ranchi weather center stated that the dry weather on December 18 and 19 would bring some relief from the cold wave. “The influence of cold winds from the Himalayas has diminished temporarily, leading to a slight rise in minimum temperatures and reducing the severity of the cold,” he explained.
However, the weather department predicts light to moderate rainfall in the southern and central regions of Jharkhand on December 20 and 21, leading to a dip in temperatures. From December 21 onwards, cold conditions are expected to intensify once again, with dense fog likely to envelop many areas.
Additionally, on December 22, light drizzle is anticipated in areas adjoining Odisha, particularly in districts like East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
Temperature trends over the past 24 hours
In the last 24 hours, parts of Jharkhand witnessed light fog. The coldest temperatures were recorded in the Kanke area of the state capital, Ranchi, where the mercury dipped to 4.6 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the highest temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius was reported in Chaibasa.
