Hanumangarh, Oct 29: Seven members of a family tragically lost their lives when their car collided with a truck on the Hanumangarh-Sardarshahar Highway in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, police stated on Sunday.

The police also stated that two family members suffered injuries in the collision.

According to police, the incident happened late on Saturday night. They added that they arrived at the scene after getting the information.

Vedpal Shyoran, the Circle Inspector of Police (CIP) at Town Police Station in Hanumangarh said, “There were a total of nine family members, including children, in the car. Seven members of a family were killed on the spot while two were injured after their car rammed into a Trolla truck- carrying cement, on the Hanumangarh-Sardarshahar highway in Hanumangarh district. The injured have been referred to Bikaner Hospital after the first-aid treatment”.

According to the CIP, the Trolla truck’s overspeeding was the primary cause of the event.

“The family belonged to the Naurangdesar village in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh. The bodies have been kept in the mortuary. A probe is underway”, he added.

Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, expressed his sorrow on Sunday over the deaths of seven family members in the accident.

CM Ashok Gehlot posted on ‘X’, saying, “The death of seven people in a road accident in Hanumangarh is saddening. I pray to God to give peace to the souls of the deceased and courage to the families”.

“I appeal to everyone to be extremely careful while walking on the road. One small mistake gives lifelong pain to everyone”, he added.
