Lucknow: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday issued a stern warning to Pakistan, declaring that every inch of the neighbouring country is within the range of India’s BrahMos missile system. Speaking at the BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow, where he and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the first batch of indigenously manufactured BrahMos missiles, Singh described “Operation Sindoor” as merely a “trailer.”
BrahMos a Symbol of India’s Strength
Singh said the successful use of BrahMos missiles in Operation Sindoor proved India’s security readiness and technological superiority. “What happened in Operation Sindoor was just a trailer,” he said. “That trailer alone made Pakistan realise that if India could give birth to Pakistan, there’s no need to say what else it can do.” He added that BrahMos has become a cornerstone of the Indian Armed Forces and a testament to India’s ability to turn its defence dreams into reality.
Made in Lucknow: India’s Missile Hub
The Defence Minister highlighted that the new BrahMos integration and testing facility in Lucknow’s Sarojini Nagar will produce nearly 100 missiles annually. Built on 200 acres at a cost of around ₹380 crore, the facility is expected to create hundreds of jobs. Singh also took a veiled swipe at the U.S. for delayed supplies of aircraft engines, saying India is overcoming “supply chain disruptions being weaponised by some countries.”
Technical Prowess and Operation Sindoor’s Impact
BrahMos is a two-stage supersonic cruise missile featuring a solid-propellant booster and a liquid ramjet engine. With a range of 290 km and sustained supersonic speed, it can strike targets faster and more precisely than conventional systems. During Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation to the killing of 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam by Pakistan-backed terrorists, India used BrahMos to strike terror camps and military positions in Pakistan and PoK. The four-day conflict ended in a ceasefire after Pakistan’s retaliatory drone attacks were neutralised.
