Ramgarh, May 19: Court of ADG first Radha Krishna convicted CCl Sayal Project engineer Alok Behra for the murder of his wife.
He was found guilty under sections 302 and 498 of the Criminal Code (A). The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on May 21.
On September 16, 2017, Alok murdered his wife, Khirbi Tanya Mahanta alias Lucy. The incident occurred at the officer’s colony at Bhurkunda riverside.
Alok was initially admitted to CCL Hospital before being transferred to RIMS Ranchi from where he managed to flee. However, he was quickly apprehended by police.
“Before the murder, he consumed a huge quantity of liquor. Police had recovered an empty bottle of wine and a used wrapper of sleeping pills. Police found bloodstains on his shirt and send the shirt for FSL examination. Later, it was revealed the bloodstain was the deceased’s blood. His hand had an injury mark from the knife used to kill his wife,” said assistant public prosecutor SK Shukla.
According to the information, there was a dispute between husband and wife. The deceased had lodged a complaint at Bhurkunda OP two weeks before her death. Behra had a suspicion that his wife had an illicit relationship with a man from Mumbai.
