Ramgarh Court finds husband guilty of dowry and murder charges

Ramgarh, July 21: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge First Radha Krishna has found Md Azharuddin guilty under sections 302 and 304 of IPC for taking dowry and murder of his wife.  

July 25 has been fixed for a hearing on the point of punishment.  The incident took place on the night of April 13, 2016, at 8 pm.  

In this case, on April 14, 2016, the father of the deceased Afsana Khatun, Md Anul Haq lodged an FIR in Bhadaninagar OP.  In the written complaint, Md Anul had told the police that on 29 April 2014, Azharuddin married his daughter, a resident of Lapanga Basti.  He has a one-year-old daughter.  He used to beat Afsana continuously for dowry.  He has also fulfilled many of his demands.  

In the case, on behalf of the prosecution, Additional Public Prosecutor SK Shukla recorded the statement of seven witnesses before the court.  In this, Dr Rajesh Gupta, Investigating Officer, Police Sub-Inspector Moon Singh and Santosh Singh recorded important statements in the court.  

The doctor, in his statement recorded before the court, had said that Afsana was first strangled, and several wounds were found on her body.  After that, she was hanged on the gallows.  The court convicted the accused based on the evidence presented.
