Ramgarh, May 27: Personnel who missed their duties in the Jharkhand Panchayat election will face strict action by the district administrations.

In this regard, Ramgarh District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Madhavi Mishra has issued show-cause notices to 28 personnel. She has given them two days time. If a concrete reason for absence is not found, action will be taken against the election personnel.

The third phase of polling in the Ramgarh district was held on May 24 in Ramgarh and Patratu blocks. Regarding this, all the presiding officers, first polling officers, second polling officers, and third polling officers deputed at the dispatch centres were called on May 23 at Ramgarh College.

During verification, 28 personnel were found absent. Hence, show cause notices were issued to all by the District Election Officer.

“Absence in election duty is gross negligence. Show cause notices have been issued to 28 personnel regarding this. As of now, some have answered, most of them have sought time,” said DC Madhvi Mishra.

“Strict action will be taken against everyone under Section 134 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 if no concrete reason for absence is found. Time and again, it was said in the past that the administration will not tolerate any negligence,” the DC added.
