MANOJ SINHA

Ramgarh, Nov 10: A woman named Sarita Devi, who fought with a venomous snake to save her daughter’s life, lost the battle of her own life after being bitten by the same snake. She breathed her last on Wednesday at RIMS Ranchi.

Three days ago, Sarita went to the Nalkari river to bathe with her two-year-old daughter when she saw a snake moving towards her kid. Before the people bathing in the river could understand anything, Sarita jumped on the snake that had reached the girl. She managed to save her child but the snake bit her three times.

Sarita was referred to RIMS Ranchi after first aid at Bhurkunda CCL Hospital where she died during treatment.

This incident caused a wave of mourning in the entire coalfield. The last rites of Sarita Devi were performed on Wednesday evening on the banks of the Nalkari river.
