Ramgarh: Woman killed in Barkakana over love affair

Ramgarh, Jan 15: A married woman Mamta Devi, was murdered by her lover Armaan Khan alias Rocky Baba late Saturday night. Notably, Devi, who was murdered with a sickle lived on rent in Bhadwatand of Barkakana OP area of Ramgarh district.

Upon receiving information, Barkakana OP in charge Shashi Prakash, reached the spot, took the dead body into custody and sent it for postmortem.

The deceased’s sister Jaya Devi, a Kuju resident informed that the deceased Mamta Devi was earlier married to one Ranjan Kasera. For the past year, Hazaribagh resident Khan alias Rocky was in constant contact over the phone with Mamta.

“During this, a love affair began between the two. Soon, Armaan started calling Mamta and threatening her to shift to his place. Presently, Mamta was living with her husband in Delhi,” said Jaya.

Jaya further said that for the last 15 days, all families had gone to Delhi with Mamta. “Recently, we returned from Delhi with my husband Nikhil Kushwaha and Mamta. While returning, Khan alias Rocky came along with us from Hazaribagh and reached Bhadwatand in the rented house in Barkakana OP area.”

“As it was my birthday on January 14, I, along with my husband Kushwaha went to Ramgarh for grocery shopping. During this, Mamta got into a fight with Khan. During the quarrel Khan killed Mamta. When we came back from shopping, we saw Mamta lying unconscious in a pool of blood. She was brought to Sadar Hospital, Ramgarh where doctors declared her brought dead,” Jaya added.

Notably, the police have started an investigation after registering an FIR in the case. “The absconding accused will be arrested soon,” said Patratu SDPO Dr V K Choudhary.
