Ranchi, April 23: The CBI special court in Ranchi deferred framing of charge in the matter of ‘horse trading’ which allegedly had taken place during the 2010 Rajya Sabha election.

The situation came after advocates appearing on behalf of the accused, including Yogendra Sao, Umashankar Akela and Rajesh Ranjan asked the court that the investigating agency has not submitted documents related to the case and the court thought it proper to frame charges when the accused gets all the relevant documents.

The case surfaced in 2010. The CBI took the matter following a high court direction. The investigation agency filed a charge sheet in the matter in 2013.

A private TV channel had exposed the money transactions in the election by conducting a sting operation. In the videos, MLAs of various parties had been shown demanding money ranging between Rs Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore from the candidates in exchange for their votes.
