Ranchi: Delhi female wrestlers secure top positions at U-17 National Wrestling Championship

Ranchi, April 18: The Delhi women wrestling team created history by winning the competition with 190 points during the U-17 National Wrestling Championship & Federation Cup held in Ranchi.

 

During the bouts in the remaining six weight categories of women wrestling, the Delhi women wrestling team defeated Haryana to clinch the trophy in the final.

 

In the 46 kg category, Shruti from Delhi defeated Sanjivani from Maharashtra to win gold. Similarly, Neha and Shikha also won gold for Delhi in their respective categories.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has also re-started to organise the Federation Cup to promote the game of wrestling across the country. They have decided to host the Federation Cup in Freestyle, Greco Roman Style & Women Wrestling at Ranch till April 19.

Top 11 teams of the 2021 Senior National Championship and the host State are taking part in the tournament. Two teams of the 2021 Senior National and top three teams for the Federation Cup are also a part of the competition.

 

Apart from the U-17 National, the bouts in all 10 weight categories of Greco Roman Style of Federation Cup were held.

 

In the 55 kg event, Rupin from Haryana secured the first position whereas Sourabh from UP won gold in the 60 kg event. In the 63 Kg, Ravi from Haryana defeated Ankush from Chandigarh and secured the top spot.
