Ranchi: In a significant development, the Jharkhand High Court has granted bail to Haider Ali, who was serving a life sentence in the murder of Rinku Khan, husband of former municipal councillor Shabana Khan. The bail order was passed on Monday by a division bench comprising Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay and Justice Ambuj Nath.

Background of the Case:

The case dates back to March 23, 2022, when Rinku Khan was shot dead in Ranchi allegedly over a financial dispute. The Ranchi civil court had convicted Haider Ali along with Ayub and Firdous alias Bablu, sentencing them to life imprisonment.

Earlier, co-accused Ayub had also been granted bail by the High Court.

Court Proceedings:

Haider had appealed against his conviction and moved a bail petition before the High Court. After reviewing the matter, the bench accepted his plea and ordered his release on bail.

The High Court’s decision brings temporary relief to Haider while his appeal against the conviction remains under consideration.
