Ranchi, Aug 14: The boundary wall of Loreto Convent collapsed as a tree fell on it during early hours on Sunday. Sources have claimed that no one was injured during the incident nor were any vehicles trapped under the debris as the incident happened around 3 am.

When questioned regarding the same, police officials at the Doranda police station said that they are yet to be informed of the incident. Meanwhile, due to the incident happening on Sunday, officials of the school cannot be contacted.

Local shop owners in the area said that the incident had already happened when they reached their shops to begin the day. One such shop owner Monu Kumar said, “When asked, guards around said that the incident took place at around three in the morning.”

“It seems that the wall fell because of the tree nearby that was uprooted during the storm. However, with the construction of the new gate, the integrity of the wall was already compromised. Along with this, even the soil may have been loose to have let the tree fall over like this,” Kumar added.

Kumar further said, “It seems the school officials along with the RMC will take care of the debris after Independence Day, as no one has even come to see the destruction since the morning.”
