Ranchi: Marwari College organises awareness workshop on ‘Harmful Effects of Tobacco Uses’

Ranchi, Oct 21: The IQAC Cell and NSS Units of Marwari College on Friday organised a state-level awareness workshop on ‘Harmful Effects of Tobacco Uses’ in association with National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Tobacco Control Cell Ranchi and the Tata Trust.

The programme was presided over by Principal Dr Manoj Kumar and Dr R R Sharma (Professor in-charge-cum-IUAC member-secretary). The volunteers present during this programme were made aware of the ill effects of tobacco, how tobacco is addictive and the ill effects of tobacco on society and our environment.

Neeraj Kaushik, Ranchi Cancer Care Foundation (Tata Trusts) explained in detail the harmful effects of tobacco on the human body and its addiction along with the Tobacco Prohibition Act (COTPA-2003). Satish Kumar (Tobacco Control Cell, Ranchi) gave information on the measures to get rid of tobacco addiction, the programmes being run by the government to get rid of tobacco addiction, as well as what is the effect of tobacco on the environment

During this programme, Assistant Professor Krishnakant and Dr Amit Kumar of Marwari College were also present. A quiz competition was also organised during which t-shirts and caps were also distributed among the winners.
