Ranchi, Dec 17: A POCSO court in Ranchi convicted two persons on Saturday who raped a minor while providing a ‘safe escort’ to her home. The two include one Rohit Oraon and a minor named Vikram Pahan. The decision on their quantum of punishment will be taken on December 22.

During the trial in the court, the prosecution presented as many as 9 witnesses.

The case came before the court after an FIR was registered on April 28, 2018, at Kanke police station.

According to the FIR, the victim had gone to her friend’s house for a wedding. A quarrel broke out at the wedding ceremony. The victim’s friends went to their respective homes and she was also returning to her home.

Mid-way, Rohit and Vikram offered their help. They said to the girl that they will drop her safely at her home so she agreed to get their help and sat on their Scooty. However, on way to her home, the duo took her to an isolated place and raped her.
