Ranchi, Dec.28: Police arrested a Patna resident, Ravi Ranjan Kumar (38) for duping Rs 20 lakh from one of his acquaintances in the name of giving him a two katha plot in Bihar.

Police swung into action when victim Prakash Kumar knocked the door, saying Ravi denied registration of land after taking an advance of Rs 20 lakh and the cheque given by him for returning the advance bounced.

Officer-in-charge of Argora police station, Vinod Kumar, confirmed the action. “The cheque that bounced had been submitted in a bank in the jurisdiction of Argora police and thus the case was registered here and further action was taken,” he added.

Ravi is a resident of Flat No.204, Vasundhara Shanti Orchid, Sheikhpura More, Bailey Road under Shastri Nagar police station of Patna. He was arrested on December 26 and brought to Ranchi on transit remand and forwarded to judicial custody.
