Ranchi, April 5: Police in the Jharkhand capital arrested two contract killers assigned to kill a land dealer Bablu Baraik for Rs 20,000.
Those arrested were identified as Mahtab Alam alias Chotan alias Sonu, a resident of Azad Basti under Lower Bazar police station and Junaid Khan, a resident of Millat Colony under the same police station area in the heart of the city.
Two firearms, including a revolver and a country-made pistol with four rounds of ammunition, were recovered from their possession.
S.P.(rural) Naushad Alam informed the breakthrough saying they came under police surveillance after their attempt to kill their prey on April 4 around 6.30 is failed and they attempted to escape on a Scooty, opening a few rounds of fire in the air.
“As their prey Baraik survived an attack made on him at a vegetable market in Bero due to misfire, he raised an alarm. Sensing trouble, the contract killers escaped. However, as the matter came into the knowledge of police they were cornered and arrested,” S.P (rural) Alam said.
