Ranchi police swing into action after weapon recovery from Prem Prakash’s house

Ranchi, Aug 24: Ranchi police have swung into action following the recovery of two AK-47 assault rifles and 60 bullets from the rented residence of power broker Prem Prakash in Ranchi during the Enforcement Directorate raid.

“We have come to know about the recovery hence we are verifying this. It is said that it is a weapon of the police department allotted to the bodyguards. We are verifying this,” officer in-charge of Argora police station,” Binod Kumar told the media. So far no complaint has been lodged.

It was said that Ranchi police provided two bodyguards to Prem Prakash and the said weapons were issued to the said bodyguards. But the details and whereabouts of bodyguards are not available. It is also not clear as to when bodyguards were issued. But Ranchi SSP Kishore Kaushal has clarified that no bodyguard was issued to Prem Prakash. 

“Ranchi Police have not provided any bodyguard to Prem Prakash as stated in the media. These two bodyguards were allotted to somebody else. These bodyguards were acquainted with any staff of Prem Prakash so they deposited their official weapons here. It is a serious matter and disciplinary actions will be taken. We are going to clarfy this matter,” said the SSP.

Well placed sources said that ED would seek details from Jharkhand Police about these recovered weapons and may summon concerned bodyguards also.
