Ranchi, Nov 9: Several students of the B.Ed colleges of Ranchi University protested in the university office premises on Wednesday demanding an explanation of the increased fee for their courses.
Notably, the students, during their admissions were told that the overall amount that they will have to submit for the two-year course would be Rs 1,60,000. Of this, Rs 10,000 was the admission fee, while the rest was the course fee for the classes of the two years.
On the other hand, after their courses, the students have claimed that the university is demanding another Rs 30,000 under various pretenses. Earlier, when the students had tried filling up the examination forms, they were asked for extra money, however, then the matter was resolved and the students did not have to pay extra amounts.
However, now, when the students are trying to get their certificates to continue further education; students claim that the university is demanding extra money to provide certificates without any proper reason.
One of the students participating in the protests, Uma Shankar Mahato said, “At the time of admission we were told that a total of Rs 1,60,000 was the fee. However, now as we’ve come to collect our mark sheets, the university officials are demanding Rs 27,000. We are here to see VC Ajit Kumar Sinha and to ask him to find a solution to our problems.”
Another student Sharon Hembrom said, “I am a student of session 2020-22 in the Abdul Razzak Memorial B.Ed College. I have given my exams and cleared them. However, I’m unable to get my TC, mark sheet and other documentation. As a result, my year may even get wasted if the university doesn’t give me my documents on time. However, for documents, the university administration is demanding money from us.”
Meanwhile, VC Sinha said, “They came to us for a solution a few days back. I have informed students that I will soon find a solution for this issue.”
