Ranchi, Oct 5: The festival of Dussehra is considered to mark the victory of good over evil. Ravan Dahan is done in different ways across the country. But there is a temple in Pithoria village, just 17 km away from the capital Ranchi, where Lord Shiva is worshiped along with Ravana.
In this way, while on one side the effigy is burnt considering Ravana as a symbol of evil, on the other hand Ravana is also worshiped along with Lord Bholenath. The priest of the temple says that Ravana was the ultimate devotee of Bholenath. Because of this, he is also worshiped in this temple.
Awadh Mishra, the priest of the temple, said that his ancestors have been worshiping in this temple for four generations. It has been almost 400 years since this temple was built. From the outer walls of the temple to the inside, there are idols of many gods and goddesses.
The idols of Shivling, Nag, Goddess Parvati, Brahma, Gurud etc. are installed inside the temple. The priest said that Ravana was a very knowledgeable and learned scholar and when Lord Shiva was entering the house, Ravana took the form of a Brahmin and got him entered.
Whenever it comes to Ravana, he is always considered a symbol of evil. This is the reason that despite being a scholar, his goodness is remembered less and his evils are remembered more. Despite the lakhs of evils in Ravana, Ravana also had a specialty, he was very knowledgeable and a devotee of Shiva. For this reason, along with Lord Shiva, Ravana is also worshiped in this temple.
