Ranchi, May 13: Ranchi University has signed a bilateral agreement with state associations of various sports including Athletics, Archery and Wushu for the development of a sports-related curriculum along with the overall development of the students of RU.
As per information, the agreement has been signed to make efforts for the development of these games through mutual cooperation in Ranchi University.
As per the MoU, the Ranchi University will mobilize resources and sports federations will make arrangements for the training of players at every level as well as provide technical support to the players.
Notably, Ranchi University had earlier made a similar agreement in 2012 for the development of volleyball. Registrar Professor Mukul Mehta had then signed on behalf of the university.
Registrar Professor Mukund Mehta said that soon some other sports will be added to this episode. He said, “An MoU has been signed with the sports federations which have won the Ranchi University medals in the competitions organised in the last few years.”
“This is for the first time that an MoU has been signed with Jharkhand Athletics Association, Jharkhand Archery Association and Jharkhand Wushu Association so that the players of the university can perform better and win medals in these games,” he further added.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamini Kumar said, “Training centres would be opened and camps would be organised in collaboration with various sports federations so that the performance of the players can be improved.
She said that based on this MoU, sports federations will help the university free of cost so that sports and sportspersons can develop.
Jharkhand Athletics Association secretary C D Singh, Jharkhand Archery representative Chanchal Bhattacharya, Jharkhand Wushu Association secretary Shailendra Dubey, Shekhar Bose, Shivendra Dubey, Rajesh Kumar Chhotu, Vijay Kumar were present among others on the occasion.
