Ranchi, March 26: The Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi concluded its weeklong cultural and sports fest ‘Cascade’ on Saturday with a final day of events. The series of events organised included activities such as badminton, basketball, cricket, table tennis, and tug of war. It was the first of its kind event organized post COVID in the campus of the Institute.

Reminiscing about the college’s pre-COVID events and fests, Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, XISS said, “We should not be confused that Cascade is the replacement of our previous annual fest Panache, Cascade has been imagined and conceptualized in a very special circumstance. That’s the context of Corona, this batch graduating coming summer is a special batch. It’s the Corona Batch on whose special request we created this space for them to showcase their talent. This culmination of ‘Culture & Sports, consisting of Art, Dance, and Entertainment’ (Cascade) is our memento to this very special batch.”

Further elaborating on the importance of holistic education, Dr Kujur stressed on the importance of such cultural events by saying, “If you really look at it, the students have been greatly successful at organising the events in a very short amount of time, therefore we are proud of them. This is precisely what the industry is looking out for, the leadership qualities in the students. It’s not only the coordinators, or the captains, or those in the loaded leadership positions, but each and every member of a team is destined to be.”

Further in his message to the graduating batch he added, “Come back to XISS. Revisit in terms of redefining your relationship with the institute and I request all of you graduating this year and the next to further inculcate your bonding with XISS.” He concluded by wishing the best to all teams and individuals participating and reinforced that “The wins are for the institute itself, no matter which department grabs the trophy”.
