New Delhi, Feb 11: Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Mughal Gardens will open for the general public from February 12.
The annual ‘Udyanotsav’ in Mughal Gardens at the Rashtrapati Bhavan will feature eleven species of tulips in six hues, 138 types of roses, over 20 types of creepers, and 70 various seasonal plants.
The national capital’s much-anticipated winter-to-spring event will be open from February 12 to March 16 on all days except Mondays.
President Ram Nath Kovind had earlier opened the annual ‘Udyanostsav’ at the Mughal Gardens, which is stretched across 15 acres and has a geometrical pattern.
The highlight of this year’s Udyanotsav will be 11 varieties of Tulips, which will blossom in stages throughout February. “There are 10,000 bulbs of tulips of 11 types in six colours. These originate in the Netherlands. We have blue, white, and pink stock from Japan. We’ve also got Inca Marigold from Germany. However, we obtain these from local vendors,” said P.N. Joshi, a horticulture consultant at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In the Central Lawns, there will also be Flower Carpets with exquisite designs. This year’s ornamental flowers have a predominant colour scheme of white, yellow, red, and orange. In the gardens, a tiny cactus area has been created, as well as other air-purifying plants.
