Recovery of banned meat triggers violence in Dhanbad village ,6 injured

Dhanbad, March 30 :  Police resorted to mild  lathi-charge to  rescue the youth from unruly mob after  banned meat was found  in his house  in Bhurkunda area under Nirsa police station  around 34 km away  from district headquarters on Thursday afternoon.

The police  had to  use force when  irate mob  began raining stone on the police personnel who were trying to take away the youth from custody of villagers. Six persons including three police personnel were reportedly injured in the incident. The mob also damaged three vehicles of police.

Getting information  rural superintendent of police  Resheema Rameshan also reached the spot and  after her assurance to  take proper action against  accused, villagers  let off the police to  take away youth from their custody.

However, Nirsa SDPO Pitamber Singh  Kherwar  denied  lathi-charge and said that situation was completely  under control in the area. “   Now no tension like situation  is in the village”, said the SDPO.

Tension prevailed in the village after  villagers recovered  banned meat and a head of cattle from house of  Nasarudding Ansari   in the morning.  The irate mob soon assembled there  and  stoned on the house and burnt the house hold goods stored on the front.  Nasarudding along with family members fled from house having seen the situation tense.  But villagers caught his son Sahabudding Ansari and tied him with a tree.

Getting information  reached  the village In the afternoon at around 1.30 pm to rescue the youth   But the irate mob chased away  them. .Getting information SDPO  Pitamber Singh Kherwar , Nirsa MLA Aparna Sengupta also reached the village and rescued the Sahabuddin Ansari after pacifying  the  villagers.

But  when police   going along with youth, mob became violent and began raining stoned. The police resorded the mild lathi-charge to disperse the mob blocking their   path. The mob also damaged three vehicles of the police.

In wake of Ramnavmi festival forces of other police stations were also  enforced in the  village to  control the situation.
After incident  MLA Aparna Sengupta, senior officials of the administration and police held meeting with villagers for restoring peace.
