Republic Day 2022: Centre confers medals to 939 police personnel, 189 gallantry awards

New Delhi, Jan 25: A total of 939 police officers had been awarded medals in the occasion of Republic Day 2022. The entire list of Republic Day 2022 Gallantry Awards has been posted on the PIB’s official website, which can be found at www.pib.gov.in.

Interestingly, 134 of the 189 gallantry awards are being given out for actions in Jammu and Kashmir. 47 of these individuals have received awards for their bravery in Naxal-affected areas, while one has received the honour for his bravery in the northeast.

In addition, 115 of the 189 gallantry medals were given out by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Force (JKPF), 30 by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), three by the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and two by the Border Security Force (BSF). SSB personnel received three gallantry awards, while Chhattisgarh Police received ten, Odisha Police received nine, and Maharashtra Police received seven.
