Ranchi, Sept 25: Irregularity and negligence of RIMS have deprived the patients of clean and sanitized treatment at RIMS. Even though the hospital has been built for better treatment of patients, the patients coming for treatment are not able to get clean bedsheets. The Mechanized Laundry System is responsible for cleaning the bed sheets, blankets, and gowns worn by the doctors at RIMS.

The mechanized laundry system of RIMS cleans about 2,000 bedsheets and the same number of blankets & gowns used by doctors during operations every day. But neither surf nor “hypo” chemicals are being given to the laundry by the RIMS management. Because of this, the bloodstains and other stains on the bedsheet are not getting cleaned properly.

Nageshwar Hembram, an employee working in the same laundry, said that 20 kg surf and 30 litres of hypo chemicals are required every day for cleaning bed sheets, blankets and doctors’ gowns. The RIMS management has not supplied it for the last several days. Because of this, clothes are being ironed by cleaning only with water. After this, the bedsheets and blankets are delivered to the ward.

The relatives of patients who came for treatment at RIMS said that bedsheets are provided by the hospital, but it is not cleaned properly. Due to which the patient has to be kept on the bed by laying the bed sheet brought from home. At the same time, many families allege that the bedsheets are not changed every day. Due to which the risk of infection remains to be a prominent issue.
