Ranchi, Oct.11: Now the detective agency will keep a vigil on doctors of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to ensure that they do not indulge in private practice.

The decision was taken today in the RIMS governing body (GB) meeting held under the chairmanship of state health minister Banna Gupta. Principal Secretary of health, family welfare and medical education department Arun Kumar Singh was also present in the meeting in the capacity of RIMS governing body vice-chairman.

The agency will find out which doctor practices outside the RIMS to ensure that proper action could be taken against them.

Local MP Sanjay Seth, who is also one of the members of RIMS GB, boycotted the meeting as the decision was taken.

“This is wrong. They (doctors) are not criminals. They have come into the profession after taking proper education. The management should provide them with such facilities that they should not go for private practice. Apart from this, some alternative steps should be taken for this instead of appointing a detective agency,” Seth said as he came out leaving the GB meeting.

Other decisions taken in the meeting included spending Rs 1300 crore on development of infrastructure, purchase of ECMO machine, medical equipment for the treatment of cancer patients, headship for three years to each professor on a rotation basis, adjustment of the fourth-grade employees who have completed their 10 yrs of continuous service, running of 20 dialysis machine on PPP model for indoor and outdoor patients, consideration for insurance cover to doctors, purchase of PAT CT Scan machine, free treatment to those who don’t have any card, increasing the number of beds by 1000 including 250 to 300 beds for child and maternity ward and 700 for super specialty ward, tie-up with Berlin Hospital for treatment of cancer patients and establishment of own engineering cell for RIMS.

Other decisions included preparing a detailed project report for maintenance of old buildings, construction of a 5-story OPD block in a 4000 square feet area.

Decisions taken in the GB  meeting will be sent for cabinet approval.
