New Delhi, Oct 25: After meeting King Charles at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday afternoon, Rishi Sunak, the leader of the Conservative party, will become the country’s first prime minister of Indian descent.

Prior to that, Liz Truss, the former prime minister who resigned after only 44 days in office, will attend her final Cabinet meeting and then make her final statement outside 10 Downing Street. King Charles will then greet her at Buckingham Palace.

Rishi Sunak will meet with King Charles once Truss departs the palace, and the King will formally appoint him as the new PM. At roughly 4 o’clock today, the first Hindu prime minister of the UK will subsequently make a speech in front of Number 10. His wife Akshaya Murthy and their two daughters, Anoushka and Krishna, could also be present.

Sunak will be given access to security codes when he arrives at the prime minister’s house. He ought to have made his decisions and announced the important seats in his Cabinet by this point.

The Conservative party tried to avoid postponing the polls by using the fast track election, which featured a contest for the top spot between Rishi Sunak and Penny Mordaunt. On October 31, the mini-budget statement is scheduled to be made public.

In 2015, Rishi Sunak first entered politics. In Yorkshire’s Richmond, he won the election. Sunak swiftly advanced through the ranks of the Conservative party and supported the “Brexit” movement. He participated in Boris Johnson’s “leave EU” campaign as one of his backers.

In his opening remarks on Monday, Rishi Sunak stated that uniting the nation would be his first priority. He also expressed his awe and honour at receiving the greatest opportunity of his life to repay the nation he owes so much.
