Patna: Bihar politics has stirred up again after RJD MLA Bhai Virendra was accused of issuing death threats and caste-based abuses to a panchayat secretary. Sandeep Kumar, who serves in the Maner block of Patna, lodged an FIR at the SC-ST police station, alleging serious intimidation by the legislator.
Threats Over Transparency Demand
According to Kumar, the conflict began when he demanded transparency in developmental works, which allegedly angered the MLA. In a viral audio clip, a voice said to be Bhai Virendra’s is heard threatening the secretary, allegedly stating, “I’ll get your job terminated, I won’t spare you.” Kumar claimed that the MLA was enraged by his insistence on adhering to official norms and protocols.
Fears for Safety and Official Complaint
Kumar also alleged that at the end of the conversation, the MLA hinted at something more serious than a transfer, leading the secretary to fear for his life. He has reported the matter to the district magistrate, seeking protection and accountability.
Political Reactions and Denials
The BJP swiftly condemned the incident, calling it an example of “RJD’s lawlessness” and alleged caste-based bullying of Dalit officers. Meanwhile, RJD has not issued any formal response.
MLA Bhai Virendra, however, denied all allegations and called the FIR a political conspiracy. He claimed he merely advised the secretary to follow protocol and issue a death certificate. He insisted the audio clip contained no threats and that the secretary later apologized. The MLA said he was being targeted ahead of the elections and is considering legal recourse.
