Ranchi, April 18: The sanitation workers of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) met BJP State President, MP Deepak Prakash on Monday and informed him about the irregularities of the RMC.
The RMC had earlier announced an incentive of ? 2000 to the sanitation workers who have worked continuously for 20 days during the pandemic. However, this has not been implemented since the second wave of covid-19.
Arun Kumar Jha, Councilor of Ward no. 26, spoke to Lagatar24.com and said that the incentives have been pending since 2021 and RMC has not taken any decision yet.
“After the first wave of covid in 2020, the RMC had given incentives to the sanitation workers who worked continuously for more than 20 days. However, during the devastating second wave when many sanitation workers lost their lives, the RMC had not given any benefits to the workers,” he said.
He added that there have been continuous discussions with the RMC officials regarding this but no steps have been taken.
Lagatar24.com tried to contact the officials from the RMC in order to get an update on the pending incentive but there was no response from their side.
The sanitation workers have urged Deepak Prakash to help them in this regard. After listening to the workers, the BJP State President said that he will talk to the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner regarding this issue and will try to get the payment done without any delay.
