New Delhi, March 10: S Sreesanth, Indian fast bowler who played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India, has declared his retirement from all forms of domestic cricket in India.
Sreesanth took two wickets in the first two matches for Kerala in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. The 39-year-old quickly issued a series of tweets and a short video on the microblogging site Twitter on to explain his choice.

“It has been an honour to represent my family, my teammates and the people of India. Nd everyone who loves the game. With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats) cricket,” he tweeted.
“For the next generation of cricketers… I have chosen to end my first class cricket career. This decision is mine alone, and although I know this will not bring me happiness, it is the right and honorable action to take at this time in my life. I’ve cherished every moment,” he added.
Sreesanth is widely regarded as one of the most entertaining Indian cricketers of all time. In 2005, he broke onto the scene, attracting notice with his abrasiveness and unusual-yet-warming mannerisms at the delivery point. He was present at a few pivotal times in Indian cricket history. To begin with, most fans would remember Sreesanth’s bat twirl hip-thrust dance after hitting Andre Nel for a six in Johannesburg during India’s tour of South Africa in 2006.
After being accused of spot-fixing during the 2013 IPL season, flashy bowler Sreesanth was banned for life. Last year, his sentence was reduced to seven years, allowing him to return to cricket. On the field, Sreesanth was also involved in several bizarre situations. Sreesanth will be remembered for generations, whether it was for getting slapped by Harbhajan Singh during an IPL 2008 game or for rattling the Aussies with his toe-crushing yorkers to knock off Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden’s stumps, followed by pitch-slapping celebrations.
