Mumbai: Stand-up comedian Samay Raina, who is currently abroad, has suffered a setback as the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has rejected his request to record his statement via video conferencing. The authorities have directed him to appear in person and have summoned him to present himself today, February 18.
Samay Raina is presently in the United States and had requested the Cyber Cell to allow him to record his statement online, citing work commitments that prevent him from returning to India before March 17.
Summons Issued Twice
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has already issued two summons to Samay Raina. He was initially directed to appear before the investigating officer on February 17. However, his legal team informed the authorities that he is in the US and will only return on March 17.
Following this, the Cyber Cell extended the deadline by one day, instructing Raina to appear in person on February 18. Despite his plea for video conferencing, the authorities have firmly declined his request.
