NEW DELHI: After an emphatic victory in the first T20I against Bangladesh, Team India is expected to stick with the same lineup for the second T20I in Delhi as they aim to clinch the series. India dominated the opening match in Gwalior, securing a seven-wicket win and extending their T20I winning streak to eight matches.

Outstanding Performances in the First T20I

The bowling duo of Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy were instrumental in dismantling Bangladesh, each taking three wickets and restricting the visitors to a modest 127 runs. India chased down the target in just 11.5 overs, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya providing a powerful finishing touch.

The series is seen as an opportunity for India to assess its bench strength, especially with regular players like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Kuldeep Yadav being rested. Youngsters like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mayank Yadav made their debut in the first T20I, with both contributing to the team’s success. Reddy scored an unbeaten 16 while Mayank impressed with a maiden over and figures of 1/21.

Another Look at the Samson-Abhishek Opening Partnership

With the absence of seasoned openers, India is exploring the opening pair of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. While Abhishek’s aggressive start was cut short by a run-out in the first game, Samson played a more measured knock, scoring 29 off 19 balls. India is keen to see how the pair performs in the upcoming games, especially with the possibility of either player being considered as a backup for the No. 3 spot following Virat Kohli’s retirement from the format.

India’s Likely XI for 2nd T20I

Despite having a series of talented youngsters in the squad, India rarely makes changes with a series win at stake. Therefore, the team is expected to stick with the same XI for the second match, with the focus on giving these players more game time.

India’s Likely XI vs Bangladesh for 2nd T20I:

  • Batters: Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh
  • All-rounders: Nitish Kumar Reddy, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar
  • Wicketkeeper: Sanju Samson (wk)
  • Bowlers: Varun Chakravarthy, Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh
