Ranchi, Aug 4: The former minister and Jamshedpur (East) MLA Saryu Roy has given a notice of breach of privilege against the forest, environment and climate change department besides Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, state urban development department and a company named Eagle.

Saryu Roy informed this to Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto alleging officials of the aforesaid departments, board and the private company for furnishing false information related to a question raised by him during the monsoon session of the assembly.

Roy said that he asked questions related to measures taken to control pollution in the river Harmu and Damodar. In the reply the government claimed that there are no outfalls of sewerage and drainage in these rivers hence both the river are not polluted. The government further claimed that to stop pollution the government has set up as many as 14 Sewage treatment plants in Ranchi, Sahibganj, Rajmahal, Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Dhanbad. The pollution level in the rivers is regularly checked and the reports are regularly updated on the website of the Central Pollution Control Board.

Roy claimed that officials furnished information which is factually wrong. He said that from July 2020 onward no data related to pollution check of any river of Jharkhand has been uploaded on the site of Central Pollution Control Board. In fact the report related to the Harmu river was never displayed on the website. He alleged officials deliberately gave false information which is a breach of privilege of the Jharkhand assembly and its members.
