Despite the fact that senior advocate Kapil Sibal representing Azam Khan argued that the Allahabad High Court had not heard his bail application for three to four months despite repeated requests, the bench headed by Justice LN Rao issued orders instructing the HC to hear Khan’s application as soon as possible but declined to grant him any relief.
Since February 2020, Azam Khan has been incarcerated in connection with multiple cases of land grabbing, encroachment, and other allegations brought against him by the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government.
Notably, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections will be held from February 10 onwards in seven phases. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
