New Delhi, Aug 21: The West Bengal government’s appeal against the Calcutta High Court’s decision to transfer the investigation into the anomalies in municipal hiring to the CBI was denied by the Supreme Court on Monday.

The West Bengal government’s appeal challenging the Calcutta High Court ruling transferring the investigation of municipality recruitment concerns to the CBI was denied by a panel presided over by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

The court added that it was satisfied that municipal irregularities were related to the teacher’s recruitment irregularities.

It was described as a roving inquiry by the West Bengal attorney.

The single-judge bench order was affirmed by the Division Bench of Calcutta HC.

In the case involving the alleged municipality recruitment scam, the West Bengal government has petitioned the Supreme Court to challenge the Calcutta High Court’s ruling.
