Mumbai, Feb 21: Mumbai police have registered a case against Swapnil Phaterpekar, son of Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Phaterpekar for voluntarily hurting, wrongful restraint and other charges in connection to a scuffle incident reported during singer Sonu Nigam’s live concert in the Chembur area on Monday night.
As per information, the Chempur Police will call him for an inquiry

Police said, “A case has been registered under IPC sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) based on singer Sonu Nigam’s complaint.

“After the live concert, when Sonu Nigam was coming down from the stage, a man held him. After an objection, he pushed Sonu Nigam and two other men down the stairs, leaving one of the men injured The accused’s name is Swapnil Phaterpekar,” said Hemrajsingh Rajput, DCP.
“The injured has been identified as Rabbani,” he added.
As per information, Sonu Nigam and his team members were allegedly manhandled at a music event in Mumbai’s Chembur on Monday. A video also went viral on social media, showing a man, allegedly from Sonu’s team, being pushed down the stage.
After the incident, Sonu Nigam lodged a complaint at Chembur police station. However, there has been no arrest made by the police so far.
Recalling the incident, Sonu Nigam said, “After the concert, I was coming down from the stage when a man held me. Then he pushed Hari & Rabbani who came to save me. Then I fell on the steps. Rabbani could have died today if some iron rods were lying down. He was pushed in such a way, as you could see in the video. Even I was about to fall.”
In the statement, Sonu made it clear that he complained to raise awareness among the public.
Notably, a similar incident recently occurred as eight people were arrested by the Oshiwara Police in Mumbai after cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s friend Ashish Surendra Yadav filed against them.
