Jamshedpur, April 7: Making South Eastern Railway a “Scrap Free Zone” is one of the mission areas of the railway.
As a result of continuous efforts to accomplish the mission, South Eastern Railway has sold scrap worth Rs. 321.16 crore surpassing the annual scrap sale target of Rs.280 crore for the financial year 2021-22.
Scrap Sale of Rs. 321.16 crore is 14.70% higher than the annual target of Rs. 280 crore and 35.51% higher than the last financial year’s total scrap sale of Rs. 237 crore.
This is the highest ever revenue earned in the last ten years by South Eastern Railway from the sale of scrap.
This commendable performance has been achieved by selling 30,834 MT of scrap rails, 97,167 concrete sleepers, 1,136 condemned wagons, 80 condemned coaches, 9 number of diesel locos, 1,069 MT of non-ferrous scrap, 20,137 MT of ferrous scrap and other miscellaneous items.
Many abandoned railway quarters, cabins, other structures and buildings sold during the 2021-22 financial year were occupying valuable space and were dangerous for safety.
By selling them on “As is Where is Basis” Railway has earned such record revenue.
