SE Railway releases books on freight stock and coach maintenance

Jamshedpur, Dec 31: South Eastern Railway today brought out a useful book on maintenance instruction guidelines and references of safety and other maintenance parameters for open line attention.

In addition, the mechanical department of South Eastern Railway has taken initiative to issue useful books on maintenance instruction guidelines and reference of safety and other maintenance parameters for open line attention of coaching stocks (LHB & ICF coaches) for the guidance of field staff, supervisors and officers for ensuring maintenance attention as per recommended guidelines.

These books have been compiled with the keen interest and guidance of PK Mandal, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, SER.

Notably, Indian Railways is the backbone of the country’s logistics sector and carry more than 1.2 billion tonnes of freight traffic every year over a network of 68,000 Km.

South Eastern Railway is contributing significantly to the freight loading target of Indian Railways.

SER has taken several important initiatives to increase rolling stock reliability and to increase mobility and efficiency by unlocking the untapped performance potential.

The books were released by Archana Joshi, general manager, of South Eastern Railway.

She said that these books will be immensely helpful to staff, supervisors and officers of open line, carrying out maintenance and operation of wagons and coaches as well as maximising the utilization of rolling stock.
