Karnataka: Security breach at PM Modi’s roadshow, police claim otherwise

Karnataka, Jan 12: A young man breached Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security cover to garland him during a roadshow in Karnataka’s Hubballi city. The man was immediately pulled away by security forces and local police.

However, speaking to CNN-News18, Hubballi Commissioner said, “We don’t think it was a security breach. We are looking into the incident.”

In the video, the security guards can be seen pulling away the man after his unsuccessful attempt to garland the prime minister.

The incident occurred when PM Modi took out the roadshow just before inaugurating the National Youth Festival. The man ran through the crowd and approached the vehicle carrying PM Modi.

As per information, the entire road where the incident occurred was secured by the Special Protection Group (SPG) and PM Modi had allowed the young man to garland him.

Meanwhile, PM Modi received a warm welcome from the enthusiastic people lining on both sides of the road. Standing on the running board of the moving car, Modi waved at the crowd, and many of them were seen chanting ‘Modi-Modi’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogans.

Moreover, PM Modi inaugurated the National Youth Festival at the Railway Sports Ground in Hubballi. The event was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, and Union ministers Pralhad Joshi, and Anurag Singh Thakur among others.

The five-day event will last till January 16 and more than 30,000 people are expected to attend the inaugural function where PM Modi will share his vision with them.
