Jamshedpur, May 2: Jamshedpur East legislator Sarayu Roy on Tuesday talked to Governor CP Radhakrishnan over investigation into the episode of alleged obscene video chatting by Health Minister Banna Gupta and the act of possessing a prohibited pistol.
In a press statement, Roy has stated that he had to talk to the governor and sent him a petition to this regard as the police are going slow in the matters.
The legislator has stated to have held a conversation with the governor, briefing him about how did the minister violate Section 25 of the Arms Act by procuring G-44 Glock pistol and even showing it off by firing from it at a public event.
Roy has mentioned that as the present government is running with the support of Congress, the health minister must have been exerting pressure on the administration to mitigate the matters related to the video chatting and possessing of a prohibited pistol.
He said in a letter issued on April 28, he had demanded the administration to immediately seize the prohibited pistol from the health minister and get it deposited in the police armoury before registering a case against him for violating the Arms Act. But the police have not been able to do anything in regard so far.
“Hence as the district police are going slow on the issues involved with the health minister, I have urged the governor to get these matters investigated by senior officers and the governor has assured me of getting the matters investigated accordingly, ” Roy has mentioned in the press release.
Banna Gupta who represents Jamshedpur West assembly constituency from Congress found himself in a spot after a video clipping allegedly involving him with an unknown woman went viral on social platform on April 23. As the matter assumes much significance in the political circle, Saryu Roy who is known for crusading against corruption and corrupt practices seems to have taken up the cudgel against Banna Gupta’s alleged misdeeds.
