Poonch, July 30: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at various places in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning in connection with a drug case.
The raids were carried out at a number of places, including a drug dealer’s home, according to official sources.
“The SIA team conducted raids at multiple locations in Poonch in connection with drug peddler Rafiq Lala who was arrested four months back,” they said.
Citing the accused’s arrest four months prior and the filing of a case under the appropriate Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic (NDPS) Act, they continued.
More information is awaited.
A heroin-like substance and a sharp-edged weapon were discovered in the possession of a drug dealer who was apprehended by Poonch Police earlier in June.
Mohd Zahir, also known as Urf Pitti, a resident of Gohlad, Mendhar, was revealed to be the arrested suspect.
In a previous statement, Poonch Police urged all local residents to exercise caution around the issue of drugs and report any incidents to the Police, noting that their identities would be kept private.
